    How to install ceiling light.
Help is needed. We live in a new home that came equipped with basic bare bulb ceiling lights. They are set up to install ceiling fans. My brother did in fact install a ceiling fan for me that would throw the breaker switch and make awful noises. To make a long story short my husband took the ceiling fan down and now wants to just put the bare bulb light fixture back in. The thing is we are both extremely electrical illiterate and do not know how to hook it up. Please look at pics and tell me what wires go where.
Any and all help is welcome. I am sitting in the dark here literally!!
There is a bare copper wire, a white wire, a red wire, and a black wire.

If you have two switches on the wall, you can wire it this way:

    White to a silver screw.
    Black to a gold screw.
Since this fixture has no provisions for a ground you can just fold that into the box.
CAP OFF the red wire with a wire nut and also fold it into the box.

    Done.

I hate to say it, but if your brother put up a fan with that simple wiring in the ceiling, and messed it up, he should NOT be touching anything electrical. Especially in someone else's house!
