New Electric Range - Old Wiring
Over the weekend over "Harvest Gold" stove finally went the way of the Dodo. It had been hardwired and now I need to install a 3 prong receptacle. The existing cable is 2 hots (red, black) and bare wire which is connected to the ground bar in my main panel. I understand what to do with the 2 hots, but am a little confused on the bare wire. I thought that the bare wire would be my neutral but it leads to the ground bar. Does this mean it is a 240v circuit that doesn't need a neutral, if so, do I need to change anything for my new electric range. Or do I just connect the bare wire to the bottom (neutral) spot on the 3 prong receptacle?
