    Gas ylded from combing sulfuric acid with the following:
    What gas (or gases) results from the following chemical reactions?

    1. sulfuric acid + sodium bicarbonate --> ?

    2. sulfuric acid + zinc --> ?

    3. sulfuric acid + sodium acetate --> ?

    This is for an Intro Chem Lab, so the answer need not be in equation form.

    Thanks!

    Here's one, easily found if you enter "chemical formulae" in a web search

    1 2 NaHCO3 + H2SO4 ––> Na2SO4 + 2 H2O + 2 CO2

    colbtech, I think that's a little too involved.

    Redneck, have you learnt the basic acid reactions yet? For instance:

    Acid + salt -->

    Acid + base -->

    Acid + metal -->

    ?
