F:\Install\ModemDrv\INTERNAL\Win9x\readme.doc
Computer Specifications: Mother bord of the computer is Intel Original 845 GVSR, Processor Pentium4 2.4 GHz, 256 MB DDR Ram, 80 GB Samsung Hard Disk
After Installation of the Motorola SM56 PCI Speakerphone Modem, while setting up the modem through Control Pannel under connection heading "Advanced Settings" was successful. However, clicking on "Port Settings" No dilogbox appears. So I followed the procedure given by you under item 4 on page 4 of above file found on installation disk of modem manufacturers (Extract is attached at the end of this file). I found the following values under "View Resources->InterrupRequests->Settings->11
11->ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI PCI IRQ Steering
11->ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI PCI IRQ Steering
11->ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI PCI IRQ Steering
11->Intel(R) PRO/100VE Network Connection
11->Motorola SM56 PCI Speakerphone ModemModem
Thus there are 5 enteries against IRQ11
I tried to assign different Com ports from tray Icon of the modem and selecected all 3 ports appearing under Com Ports viz Com1 Com2 and Com3. In the dilogue box Com1 is disabled. Inspite of this "Port Setings" dilogue box doesn't open.
With the result I am not able to use this modem. May I request you to tell me detailed procedure to make this modem work
Thanking you, Yours faithfully

4 Preparing the Computer for SM56 Installation
To ensure problem-free installation of the SM56, ensure that an Interrupt Request (IRQ) line is available, as follows.
1. In Win95/98, open the Control Panel.
2. Double click the System icon.
3. Select the Device Manager tab.
4. Highlight the Computer icon.
5. Select the Properties radio button.
6. Ensure that the Interrupt Request (IRQ) radio button is selected.
This displays the IRQ lines that are in use on the computer. Available/unused lines are not shown on the list. The SM56 PCI software modem can use an IRQ in the range 3 through 15, inclusive. If there is no IRQ line available for the SM56 disable one of the COM ports in the BIOS and use it's IRQ.
Note: If you are using a Windows 95/98 DOS box application, the modem requires two IRQs. Refer to the Troubleshooting section in this document, or to the on-line User's Guide for more information on DOS application support. You can access the User's Guide through the SM56 System tray helper application (click on the icon on the System Tray, immediately to the right of the Task Bar).
Also, you must ensure that one of COM Port 2, 3, or 4 is available for the SM56, as follows:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
2. Double click the System icon.
3. Choose the Device Manager tab.
4. Expand the Ports (COM and LPT) branch to see which COM ports are already installed.
To install the SM56 so that it is accessible to older application software and DOS programs, the modem needs to be installed on one of COM port 2, 3, or 4. If none of these ports are available, you must disable one of them in the BIOS.
