My employer called me into his office 2 days ago and presented me with a complaint FANNIE MAE has contacted them about in reference to my proof of income that was submitted on my home loan that was approved 18 months ago... several months ago my husband & I filed Chp 13 BK... GMAC mortgage filed a lift of stay on our home loan and we think the proof of income verification was part of that process... However, my employer has accused me of falsifying the paystub and they have suspended me without pay... There are giving me 48 hours to prove my claim that I did not submit the proof of income, it was handled by the mortgage broker that our real estate agent referred us to... I never saw the documents, I just signed a blank credit application... I work for a financial institution and they are claiming that this is a serious charge, because FANNIE MAE could fine my employer for my accused misconduct... I did not submit the proof of income, my husband & I actually thought we were being approved for our home loan based on not having to prove income, and for that, we paid a higher interest rate, more points, and higher % down payment...
Can my employer fire me for something I didn't do? And what can I do to fight the false accusations?
