SAME EXACT PROBLEM CAN NOT RENEW OR READ IP ADDRESS

Did any one fix this and could you tell me what you had to do? I did most of the recommendations here in and no go.

My issue was while on the net working on ebay, drops off line and could never get it back. I did all the obvious, re-set modem and router, by pass router, called comcast tech support, helpful, but couldnt help me.

My system, nothing new, no changes, recent build itel core 2 quad - 8 gb ram - 1 tetra bit storage, over 70% free. Nvidia MB with Geforce 8600 gts video - 1 gig on board net controller.

My sytem is wired to comcast rca modem, one wireless laptop works and another wired systems works fine, same cable out of main tower ( machine with issue ) plugged into laptop works, so issues is machine related.

I have worked on this for a couple days , getting ready to reinstall XP fresh to repair or determain if its MB issue, any ideas or if any others have fixed , please let me know. thanks, LB

try this.

From a cmd prompt type:

netsh int ip reset reset.log
[return]
netsh int winsock reset
[return]

(Now reboot)

I would have love to know if that would have worked? I ended up re-installing XP but the actual issue must have been MoBo driver update for network Enumerator? when I installed Mobo drivers off the orig. Nvidia disk, the network starting working immediately, grrrr... I never ok'd the Mobo driver update, it came from Uniblue speed up my PC driver update tool - BAD dont do it,....it let a clashing driver update, so much for speed, cost me 3 days+ off line, lost about 500 bucks in sales over it... I will be getting a refund from them - stay away from Uniblue - Thank you for your help, LB
