Hello. I underwent an abscess draining from my rectal area in June. The surgeon found something she didn't like while down there and did a biopsy which came back as rectal cancer. I've gone through my chemo and radiation treatments, as well as another 2 abscess draining procedures. I am currently on antibiotics to stave off any further abscess buildups. I had begun to notice severe pain while trying to urinate. Unless I had a large amount of urine backup I had to really push and strain to get the fluid out and it would usually end up dribbling everywhere at the end. There is awful pain in my penis and testicle area after. The urine was tested and showed no signs of a UTI and I was not holding back any excessive amount of urine.
Another abscess draining (the third) was done about two weeks ago and the surgeon said she found some necrotic tumor as well as abscess. My primary physician says he thinks the pain is due to all the trauma the area has seen as something is swollen and pushing against my nerves. Standing is often very difficult and I see some relief by laying on my right side, in a fetal position.
My doctors have my on a regiment of 160mg of OxyContin every 12 hours and 8mg of Dilaudid every 4 hours. As of yesterday they were increased to 16mg of the Dilaudid and the OxyConting I was to take 160mg, followed 8 hours later by 60mg more of Oxy and they 8 hours after that another 160mg. This seems like an insane amount of medication for me, and yet I am still feeling a constant sharp pain pain in the groin area and it still hurts to urinate.
A pain management nurse just called in prescriptions for Neurontin and Decadron for me, but I have yet to pick them up and try them.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated as my quality of life has nose dived and I can basically do nothing by lay down and hope for relief.
