When I try to close down my computer for the evening, I always get an error box that says:

End Program SMAX4PNP
To return to windows and check status of the program check cancel.......


I googled some explanation and it's not a virus, but a thing having to do with sounds? Anyway, it's frustrating as I want to shut off my computer with the shut down button and this always pops up. So I do a manual switch off by holding the on/off button down for 10 seconds. I know this can't be good for my computer.

Can someone offer an easy way to clear up this error. Maybe a step by step to clear it up.
