I've been coloring my hair dark, professionally, for about 5 or 6 years now and it's basically the darkest brown right before black. I'd like to get to a light, light brown with possibly some highlights. My natural color is a medium ashy brown. I'm in no rush, my goal is to get this done in like 9 months as healthily as possible. My hair is very thick and healthy and grown past my shoulders now. I'm thinking it would be best to fade my hair with a bad shampoo once a week for the next couple months, then when it's finally a lighter brown use a 20 bleach and color it with a very light brown. In addition to that, I'd only highlight 1/3 in a couple months, then another 1/3 in another 4 months, and finish the last 1/3 in another 3 or 4 months. Then my hair bleached hair has time to heal in chunks instead of damaging it all at once. I'm wondering if all this is the perfect way to go about or if there's a better way? And after I have highlighted it and colored it, and the light brown begins to fade, will it fade to the crap copper that the 20 bleach is going to bring out? I just want help and my hair is healthy, I'd like to keep it that way. Help!
