Hi. I'm new here and I tried to find an answer in the many questions already asked, but didn't see one, so if this topic has already been addressed, I'm sorry!

I have medium brown hair with a bit of copper highlights in it. I love my natural color usually, but get bored with it and like to use a semi-permanent color just to boost shine or warmth in the summer. I use a dark golden blonde or light golden brown or copper to do this, but lately when I color, my hair gets way too dark! What is causing this? I haven't permed in 15 years, colored in over one [just had a baby:)], and hardly ever use hair sprays, curling irons, dryers, etc. Hair in good condition. I know I have a bit of iron in my water since we moved here, but I used good salon quality clarifying shampoos and conditioners and metalex to try to get any buildup out before I colored. Still, way too dark! Any ideas?

I have well water, but I also had well water when I lived at home with my parents, and it never interfered with my color. But there was no iron in it, either...

Thank you!
