My father was diagnosed with cancer recently and is concerned with the possibility of needing to enter a facility/nursing home sometime in the future. My husband and I own a two-family home with my parents for the past 20 years. My husband, myself, and our children (ages 21, 18, and 10, all reside in the home, as do my parents. My parents also have a condo in Florida that they use several months out of the year. When it comes to Medicaid Estate Recovery in NY, do my husband and I have to worry about any liens being attached to our share of the NY home or being forced out of our home when the state seeks reimbursement? All four of us appear on the deed as well as on the mortgage for the premises. Thanks for any info you can offer.
