Hi guys,

Okay, I never dye my hair but a few days ago, I was feeling ambitious. I've got natural dark chestnut-reddy/brown hair and I dyed it a light carmel brown. It looked bad so I thought I'd just go back to my natural colour. I coloured it "Natural Dark Brown" and after about 15 minutes or so, I saw it was going black. I washed it off fast and I was left with jet black hair. After hours and my mom and her best friend laughing at me, they took me to the salon where their friend Ellen told me she wasn't going to dye it back since black is very hard to remove and it would strip my hair, leaving it feeling awful. She gave me a peroxide wash and it started to slowly wash out. I got home, called another salon and I was told to use equal amounts of Tide detergent and shampoo. I've been washing it non stop for an entire day (I know, I know, I'm just asking for my hair to fall out) and my natural red is starting to really show which I'm very thankful about. It's still way too dark and I absolutley hate it (enough that I feel uncomfortable walking around in my own house with my family). What else can I do? I'm pretty much finished washing the dye out since it's stings my scalp and I've got my red back. I'm thinking about letting my hair relax for a few days (i.e. no heated appliances, no dyes obviously) and then going to get it professionally fixed back to my natural brown tone.

Any opinions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!
