Yes, ginger has many good properties but should not be taken by anyone with high blood pressure. There are limitations to its use.

Hi tickle, I am with some of these people in that any natural medicine including using food for medicine is good for the body. There are rarely any side affects to using organic things, because we have organic bodys. The synthetic meds always have side effects, especially long term use. There are wholistic doctors. Acidic body's have a tendency to produce disease, ageing, and inflammation all the way down to the cells. So what I understand so far about the Nopalea is that it reduces inflammation.

I agree to a certain extent, I work with holistic doctors and take an holistic approach to how I treat my clients holistic meaning treating every aspect of their wellbeing, but I absolutely will not refer them to organic means to treat their diabetes or high blood pressure. Most of my clients are elderly, so would prefer that they follow their doctor's orders in their treatment.
It is okay to say nopalea reduces inflammation but it all depends on where the inflammation is coming from and what is causing it. Most painful diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis an auto immune disease which means the RA attacks the immune system. I really don't believe any organic medication is going to ease the pain of that debilitating ailment.

The spokespeople for this product have a financial incentive in that this is a Multi-level Marketing scheme.
Also, consider that the Placebo Effect is very powerful.
I feel badly for people with chronic pain, such as that from fibromyaligia.
If the Nopal cactus was a miraculous "cure" for inflammation, you can be sure that the pharmaceutical companies would be all over it, researching the active elements and looking to make extracts or synthesis of the Cactus Pear.
By the way, Cactus Pear is a pernicious weed in the southwest U.S. You see them growing on hillsides all over the place,

What I can tell you is that in my culture we have been taking the juice and eating the nopal whole as part of our typical diet. You can also find it in the Mexican food grocery stores, the dried whole nopal. Sometimes you can find it with flax and pineapple. It is a lot cheaper and highly effective. In our culture, nopal is taken to immediately reduce cholesterol. IN a weeks time, of continual ingestation of the nopal.. you can see a significant drop in cholesterol. Also, diabetics take it to control sugar levels. It is also taken to lower high tricygleride levels. I had not heard of it being taken for inflammation, but I am sure it will work for that as well. If you prefer the dried extract, you can find it under the names of nopalina, nopalinaza (nopal with flax), pinalinaza (pineapple, flax, nopal and fenugreek).

I came here in seeking info on nopalea... i have fibro, arthritis, and psorasis... but i need to pass on some information that i know for a fact... seen it for myself, as well as had others i referred to this supplement, come back and praise how well it works.
If you have diabetes... problems with your sugar levels... a natural alternative that really works... cinnamon capsules... some take them twice a day (2-4)... others once... you have to find your own level... but taking it before bed is imperative.

I came seeking info on Nopalea... I have Fibro, arthritis, and psoriasis
After reading a few posts... I MUST correct the statement "there is no natural alternative for diabetes"... YES... THERE IS
After reading about it and sharing what I read with people I KNOW PERSONALLY that suffer from diabetes... then having PEOPLE ONLINE I KNOW ONLY Through A GAME SITE post that I was 'right'... IT WORKS... I now know WITHOUT A DOUBT
IF YOU HAVE DIABETES... CINNAMON CAPSULES WILL HELP YOU
You have to 'find' your own levels. Whether you take it once a day, or twice... 2-4 capsules... TAKE A DOSE BEFORE BEDTIME

I am in healthcare and I have diabetes. I follow doctors orders, take the meds she prescribed, watch my diet, exercise and for the last five years all my levels have been in the normal range. I would never advise one of my clients to go beyond what they have been taught and I will never be a proponent of alternative medicine for diabetes. Is that what you are saying, cinnamon capsules are an alternate treatment for diabetes? And if so, seeing as our kidneys are so important, will this natural supplement cure kidney failure ?
